About Salt Spring Garbage & Recycling

Who we are
Salt Spring Garbage & Recycling has been a family business on Salt Spring Island since 1960. We started out as the island's landfill, and in 1990 we became a solid waste transfer station. For 65 years we've kept the same goal: making garbage and recycling easy for the people and businesses on Salt Spring.
Today we run the transfer station at 360 Blackburn Rd, where anyone can drop off garbage and recycling. We also offer commercial garbage pickup, 12-yard and 40-yard bin rentals, and licensed transport of asbestos and batteries. We recycle metal, cardboard, drywall, small appliances, paper, electronics, clean wood and green waste, so less of the island ends up in the landfill.
We're local, and we give back too. Our Blackburn Mall store runs by donation and has raised over $115,000 for local high school scholarships and community programs.
